2/The last 2 years have reminded Europeans that US guarantees are not immune to political uncertainty. It seems you're living in a black hole or in a sewer.
3/Germany's nuclear deterrent ultimately relies on old US B61 gravity bombs and US authorization. France fields its own warheads, doctrine, submarines, and airborne systems (ASMP-A today, ASN4G tomorrow).
4/ good luck building all that from scratch. Nuclear weapons, delivery systems, industrial know-how, command structures, and deterrence doctrine take decades to develop. Money alone doesn't buy a credible nuclear deterrent overnight. It d take a least 15-20y
Ignoring these realities is simply unserious.

1) We rely primarily on US nuclear deterrence
2) France *could* be a back up solution because countries like Germany don’t *want* to have nukes (historical reasons). We *could* develope them if we wanted to.
And even if the U.S. is really backing down from nuclear sharing (which is still unlikely), the most likely case is that Europe will develope its own nukes because really no one wants to be dependent on the French president, if he has other options.
And FCAS is just another (of many many examples) why this is the case.

法國啟動ASN4G高超音速核巡航飛彈開發計畫
法國國防採購局（DGA）於2026年6月2日正式通知MBDA公司，簽署ASN4G（第四代空對地核飛彈）框架協議及開發合約，預計2035年左右服役。這款高超音速核巡航飛彈將搭載於未來Rafale F5戰機，取代現役ASMP-A（後升級為ASMPA-R）超音速核飛彈，強化法國空基核威懾能力。
ASN4G採用超燃衝壓發動機（scramjet）推進，可達Mach 6以上高超音速，射程超過1000公里，遠優於現役約500公里的ASMP-A。彈頭預計為新一代TNA 4G核彈頭，強化突防能力與生存性，以因應未來先進防空系統威脅。該計畫符合法國2024-2030軍事規劃法，旨在維持核威懾的獨立性與有效性。
MBDA執行長Eric Béranger表示，這是法國主權與防護的最終保障武器系統。ONERA等單位已提前進行技術演示驗證。目前法國為全球少數擁有完整核三位一體打擊能力的國家，此舉將進一步鞏固其戰略地位。

Η Γαλλία ήδη διαθέτει τον ASMP-A/R (Air-Sol Moyenne Portée-Amélioré), έναν πυρηνικό πύραυλο κρουζ αέρος-εδάφους, που τοποθετείται στα Rafale, με βεληνεκές 500 χλμ και πυρηνική κεφαλή ισχύος 100 έως 300 κιλοτόνων.
Αν η Τουρκία αποκτήσει πυρηνικά, θα τον πάρει και η Ελλάδα.

Aucun système actuel ne garantit une interception fiable contre un missile M51 avec une vitesse de rentrée atmosphérique de ~ Mach 20. Un arrow 3 peut encore moins intercepter un ASMP-A qui est un missile de croisière donc qui reste dans l'atmosphère. Pas fait pour ça.
