March is both National Athletic Training Month and Brain Injury Awareness Month. Stacey J. Ritter, MS, ATC, of Concussion Navigation Services, LLC, represents the critical role athletic trainers play in concussion management and brain health. By implementing the strongest evidence-based best practice guidelines, Stacey ensures patients receive comprehensive, individualized care they can count on throughout every stage of recovery. Just as important, she prioritizes understanding what patients are experiencing: physically, cognitively and emotionally. Athletic trainers are leaders in concussion recognition, management and safe return-to-activity decisions. This month, we recognize the ATs protecting brain health and guiding patients forward. Know an athletic trainer making a difference in concussion care? Thank them below! Celebrate the professionals who keep athletes safe. Preparation saves lives. Kaela Johnson, MS, LAT, ATC, CES, Assistant Athletic Trainer at the University of Wisconsin–Parkside, demonstrated exactly what it means to provide care you can count on when a referee went into sudden cardiac arrest during a soccer match. In a matter of seconds, Kaela sprang into action. Relying on her clinical training, emergency preparedness and decisive leadership, she worked alongside nursing professionals to initiate life-saving care. Because of her rapid response and expertise, a life was saved that day. Moments like these define the athletic training profession. Athletic trainers are licensed health care professionals trained to respond in critical situations – and when it matters most, they are ready. Quality care means treating the whole patient. It means preparation before the emergency. It means stepping forward without hesitation. This National Athletic Training Month, we honor ATs like Kaela who show up ready – and make the difference between tragedy and survival. Athletic trainers are transforming health care in the workplace. Monica Smith, MAT, LAT, ATC, CEAS-III, Regional Injury Prevention Manager, and Kristin White, MS, ATC, LAT, PCES, Injury Prevention Specialist, work in an occupational health setting within a large-scale fulfillment center environment. Every day, they partner directly with employees on the floor – coaching body mechanics, identifying early signs of strain and teaching movement strategies that promote safety throughout physically demanding shifts. Their work is proactive and rooted in biomechanics, movement science and ergonomics. By stepping in before pain or injury begins, they help keep teams healthy, resilient and performing at their best. This is what athletic training looks like in industry – prevention-driven, evidence-based and centered on people. Happy National Athletic Training Month to the ATs delivering care you can count on in every setting. This #NATM2026, honor athletic trainers and the care you can count on.
