Octavius didn't become emperor of Rome through the sperm of his uncle, Julius, did he? You are misinformed. Octavius was Julius Caesar's nephew, and so after Julius became Octavius' foster father, Octavius went on to became Augustus Caesar. Similarly, Joseph was ๐ง๐จ๐ญ Jesus' biological father, but his foster father.
At Nathan, Luke begins reckoning the genealogy through Jesus' ๐ฆ๐๐ญ๐๐ซ๐ง๐๐ฅ line, and at Solomon, Matthew begins reckoning the genealogy through Jesus' ๐ฉ๐๐ญ๐๐ซ๐ง๐๐ฅ line.
Matthew's geneology at Matt. 1:6-16 traces Jesus' ๐๐๐๐๐ descent from his foster father, Joseph, back to David's son, ๐๐จ๐ฅ๐จ๐ฆ๐จ๐ง. (Matt. 1:6โ16) Having been legally adopted by Joseph, Jesus was his firstborn, and despite the fact that Joseph and Mary had other children, Jesus as Joseph's foster was entitled to firstborn rights. Jacob was Joseph's father. Matthan was Joseph's grandfather, Eleazar was Joseph's great-grandfather, Eliud was Joseph's great-great grandfather, etc.

Luke 3:23โ31 traces Jesusโ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ descent back to Davidโs son, ๐๐๐ญ๐ก๐๐ง, by Mary. Now when tracing the bloodline from a grandfather to a grandson through a daughter, it was the custom in genealogies to focus on the son, so Luke does not name Mary, but instead names Maryโs father, ๐๐๐ฅ๐ข, who is the maternal grandfather of Jesus Christ and Josephโs father-in-law. The reference to Joseph as being the โ๐ฌ๐จ๐ง ๐จ๐ ๐๐๐ฅ๐ขโ is inserted instead since Joseph is Heliโs ๐ฌ๐จ๐ง-๐ข๐ง-๐ฅ๐๐ฐ.
