As Advice Week 2025 comes to a close, I wanted to share this powerful short film from
@AdviceUK - “Advice Services: The Backbone of Our Communities.”
From Aberdeen to Bristol, it captures what I see every day: advisers holding communities together through the cost of living crisis, cuts to public services, and widening inequality.
The film tells the stories of advisers supporting deaf and disabled people, women experiencing violence, and families facing homelessness - showing the human impact of advice work with honesty and care.
As a Trustee of
@AdviceUK, and someone who leads advice services helping tens of thousands of people each year, I know just how vital this work is. Advice doesn’t just fix problems - it rebuilds confidence, security, and dignity.
This film is both a tribute and a call to action: to invest in the recruitment, training, and retention of advisers so that services can continue to build resilience, equality, and social justice in every community.
Featuring members including Housing Matters, CFINE, IKWRO, Disability Law Service and Latin American House, it’s a reminder that advice work is not just compassionate - it’s one of the smartest, most cost-effective ways to strengthen society.
