If impressions surge (because you're appearing in the last position of 1st page when you were on 2nd page before), then average position drops and CTR too. Few pages in 9-10 position are enough to make the average drop.

Gemini 3 began rolling out on November 18th. Could it be that Gemini 3 has a more expansive query fan-out process? And since it is Google, they aren't limited by the Num=100 issue? Could also be AI Mode query fan-outs, now powered by Gemini 3.

Yes, impressions are increasing than before.

No, it's related to the Google Update. AI scrapers would affect only the positioning. You didn't show clicks, and those have dropped as well.

Maybe it's connected to the immense bot traffic from Lanzhou and Singapore that started bombarding sites a month or two ago? Google still haven't figured out how to block those by default in GA4, making real-time reports and RPM useless. They're working on a solution apparently.

Remember the num=100 situation where Google removed support for the parameter based on AI scrapers and bots scraping the Google SERPs? When they did that, average position surged heavily and impressions dropped (since those scrapers were being excluded). Well, @AnalyticsEdge pinged me about a recent change for some sites. And I'm seeing it too for *some* sites (not all). Right around 12/3 or 12/4, some sites are seeing a big drop in average position while impressions skyrocket again. That leads me to believe some scrapers are now getting through. Check your stats. You might be one of them. Now lets see if Google fights back as part of the cat and mouse game... For example:

Like @AnalyticsEdge explained, if you use "Fresh Data", the latest data is there. I just exported data as of 6/10. If you don't use "Fresh Data", you only get through 6/3.

Quick update on GSC hourly data via the API: I've been testing hourly data exports via the GSC API this morning. Working pretty well. Still need to work out the kinks on my end, but very cool to be able to see this data for up to 10 days. I've been filtering by web, Discover, etc., viewing specific article data, and more. And thanks to @AnalyticsEdge for moving so quickly to add this functionality! I'm sure I'll be sharing more about this over time.
