@SenMarkKelly,
As a U.S. Army Special Operations veteran and 100% service-connected disabled veteran business owner, I respect your Navy service and your stated commitment to servicemembers.
However, your vote against this year’s NDAA prioritizes political criticism over the urgent needs of our military and national security at a dangerous time.
Opposing the defense authorization undermines readiness, delays funding for training, equipment, modernization, and force structure.
Your decision directly endangers Americans and troops facing threats from China, Russia, and Iran. It risks pay raises for our service members, family benefits, housing for retired service members and disabled veterans, and procurement certainty that adversaries exploit. Timely passage has been the norm for decades precisely to avoid such disruptions.
Your self-credited provisions in the bill highlight the inconsistency. You have claimed advances for Arizona installations, AI accountability, and servicemember support, yet withholding overall authorization weakens deterrence and leaves troops vulnerable. Blank checks are unwise, but leveraging funding disputes amid active operations abandons strategic responsibility.
For perspective on consistency: During her Senate tenure, former VP Kamala Harris had opportunities to vote on multiple NDAAs (FY2018–FY2021). She voted in favor of key measures like the FY2018 NDAA and the FY2021 veto override but was absent on FY2020 final passage and opposed certain related amendments—illustrating selective support rather than steadfast prioritization of military funding.
Leadership requires consistent, unambiguous backing for those who serve, not using their authorization as political leverage. I urge you to place national security and troop welfare above partisan critiques.
