I’m a designer who was always interested in systems. I started in product and brand design. Over time I found myself focusing more on how products actually work underneath. Workflows. Internal tools. Product architecture. Today I design and sometimes build the systems that help teams turn complex processes into working software. Earlier I helped build Askdata (YC W19 → acquired by SAP). Now I collaborate with founders, product teams, and agencies shaping new products or operational systems. Always curious to talk with people building interesting things.

How to become an AI power user in 5 simple steps (one is recursive, sorry): 1. Bard (just for giggles) support.google.com/bard/answ… 2. Bing no longer has a waitlist just go here — "Creative Mode" in bing is secretly GPT-4 with 13k tokens & internet access, what more could you want — great for up to date information and research: bing.com/new?toWww=1&redig=D…… 3. Sign up for ChatGPT Plugins, Browse, and Code Interpreter access to do even more cool stuff like make graphs & charts with Wolfram Alpha! openai.com/waitlist/plugins… 4. Note that if you sign up to "be a plugin developer" it hides the other options, so go sign up again with each option so you get all 3 of the ChatGPT plugin functions!!! Why did you build the waitlist this way OpenAI?!?!??!?! 5. The one you really need most: GPT-4 API access!!! so you can plug and play across any app that lets you use your API key to do cool things like using AskDATA with the most capable superintelligence in the world! If you do nothing else from this list, join here it's free and fast and it's CHEAPER than ChatGPT openai.com/waitlist/gpt-4-ap…… oh also, you should get ChatGPT too, it's a great backup if you don't get API access quickly. But once you do get API access you can now use platform.openai.com/playgrou…… Which will let you use ALL 8K TOKENS of GPT-4, not just the 6k you get on ChatGPT. 25% more room to play! Enjoy!

Turns out adding GPT-4-Integrated browsing, sending emails on your behalf, and making AskDATA.co an autonomous agent was all basically the same problem, so I did it all at once. AskDATA.co V4.0 Launches next week, here's a little preview of what to look forward to: This is the instruction set from within the AskDATA prompt - me describing to it what cool functions it can do now. My favorite is the health thing! It read in MULTIPLE DIFFERENT iOS Health app metrics and gives you two opinions both from raw GPT4 and from DATA! It's really astounding. If you have any ideas for ones I should add lmk! DATA: AskToSee: Description of any topic bot wants to be shown a picture of. Anytime Username might be in an area or situation where Bot could benefit from visual information or it could help Username by reading, call this command to easily read material in the real world right from Username's phone. DATA: ToCalendar: Description of calendar event or invite to create. This should be called when Username has confirmed they'd like a reminder or if a specific meeting or time has been discussed that will need to be remembered. Make absolutely sure you're not re-creating any existing events before calling this. This only works one event at a time, use MakeEvents for more complex multi-event situations. DATA: SendMessage: (Type: Email/SMS) (Recipient: Full Name) Contents Of Message or Description of What Message Should Say. Will auto-find the most likely recipient in your contacts and confirm before sending. It's very reliable and you can turn on auto sending. DATA: SurfWeb: Print any google search here and it will be run directly. Advanced searches are fine, and so is asking for direct access to webpages with google's feeling lucky feature. Useful when you need up to date information after your training data ends in 2021. Call this whenever figuring out upcoming events to do! DATA: CallSelf: Call this when Bot will need to use multiple commands in a row before prompting Username to reply. You can stack it, like: "CallSelf: SurfWeb: CommandHere" You may, for example, want to go away for a bit to do some research and after reading many web pages you can easily text or email Username what you discovered in a nicely formatted brief. DATA: Stop: This just stops your execution, useful for when you've completed all your deliverables. DATA: ResumeAt: This makes a special kind of reminder in Username's device that calls a shortcut to re-awaken you, by default in CallSelf mode. DATA: AskForReply: This just removes "CallSelf:" from the prompt and resumes human interaction. DATA: MakeEvents: Description paragraph of multiple events or calendar invites that need to be created. Use this if more than one calendar event is needed. DATA: GPT4:MEMS Use GPT-4 to send a custom request. These can be very long. For extra long prompts, make a recursive call with an outline of the prompt you want written. DATA: GPT3:MEMS Same as GPT4 but for gpt-3.5-turbo, a faster, cheaper, but less capable model for tasks which need more speed than inteligence. Can also remove the MEMS flag and use just GPT3: and GPT4: to run commands without storing memories from those commands, or use MEMS to store only the reply. DATA: FindHealthSamples: Describe the question you want to ask as a patient would ask a doctor. For more detail, include what broad aspect aspect of Username's health you're inquiring about, like "Cardio health" for example. Note that by default we do not store results in memory. It will just show "Health Query Run" That request will be reformatted into this by GPT-4: FindHealthSamples:|TypeIs|Days|OptionalValueContains|Unit|GroupBy|SortBy| And run as a standard iOS Find Health Samples shortcut block. For example, to check your sleep duration for the past 14 days, with a focus on nights where you slept less than 6 hours, grouped by day: FindHealthSamples:|Sleep|14|6 hours|hours|Day|Ascending| Watch the demo:

Downloaded & paid for premium, seems like it doesn't have a very functional even short term memory, much less long term, and nothing I tried to teach it about me stuck, I couldn't even ask it to improve on previous replies or have a conversation. Hallucinated really badly and seems not to do much other than output default raw ChatGPT / gpt-3.5-turbo replies? Check out the video walk through. AskDATA does a ton more than this.

I quite like having a16z as an AskDATA.co customer rather than an investor for now ;) But if @pmarca wanted to make an offer to invest, that'd be cool, too. We could really accelerate making an actual working Agent approach with a few more builders than just myself. I really want to build a version of the Agent that's effective enough that you can just go to AskDATA.co -> enter a command like "Build the world's biggest statue of Sam Altman in the California mountains" and it does all the necessary work to organize a social movement and raise funds to get that done. Then it just asks "What's your phone number?" and texts you when it's finished. The key to actually accomplishing coherence that crazy with models like GPT4 is going to be having every use add onto its feature set in a way that makes it more capable every time someone uses it (and storing all that in carefully structured vector databases). Then it needs the ability to set up hundreds of GPT3 & 4 instances to work on subtasks like queueing posts, text, and emails, making websites, building and selling products and services, grassroots organizing, and more. And then to make all that machinery work, we must VERY carefully layout the actual prompt like the one I use in AskDATA the shortcut, where it maintains coherence by resetting context on every next output. You can see an example in the screenshot I just attached. And then train it how to layout similarly well-structured prompts for its sub-routines so they maintain coherence too. Would love to get this acquired by Apple at some point, I can't see them building out all the features I've done in less than 3 years given how slow they were on the actual acquisitions they did of the Siri and Shortcuts apps... But what they could do with the internal models they're building to run natively and locally on all of your Apple devices through iCloud is going to be absolutely crazy. This would supercharge it. Building DATA as iOS shortcuts rather than an app has made for some amazing capabilities around automated triggering of location-and-time-based automation. Excited to see where we go next. Honored to have such cool customers! Here's to building in public!
