About 20 staff members from Virginia Beach Community Corrections/Pretrial participated in Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) training with the VBSO Emergency Response Team (ERT) last month at the Virginia Beach Courthouse.
The course teaches critical response strategies built around Avoid. Deny. Defend. — helping participants recognize threats and respond in those critical moments before law enforcement arrives.

@JohnRosiak@remstacenter Let’s not lose sight of the need to protect our sports and fine arts venues while we’re protecting our campuses. Although this was a targeted incident, a police officer was injured. #SchoolSafety#AvoidDenyDefend
Every school district must recognize & train for active shooter incidents at not only campuses but other venues as well. We must review plans, policies, & training for #SBLE officers. Technology must play a role! #SchoolSafety#AvoidDenyDefend@TSDPCA@TxSchoolSafety
#AvoidDenyDefend We hope nothing ever happens in our communities, but we must be prepared just in case!
