During Q&A I asked one of the BCNET 2019 keynote speakers (thinker/writer/changemaker/edupreneur) why he only quoted one woman in his talk and he said they were “hard to find”. @edtechfactotum immediately tweeted 10 handles and started a thread 😂
Anyhow, the message to take is to ensure diversity on keynote list and this time gender was missed. Not ok to repeat that, especially if you say your speaker count of women is increasing (as that is a pot to draw from). Delegates I imagine is much lower.
I am glad you are, but I think the point is that we are not. I have been in that community for years and it has been a sea of men from participants to committees to keynotes. What active steps are being taken to change that?
I was starting to get hope, which was why it was worth it to be a part of & then chair a committee there on learning tech. Then someone cancelled all the committees. No idea what is going on in @BCNET_Network now. They need to find a way for edtech involvement & gender balance
I see that @BCNET2020 has gone back to the time where all male keynotes are the best representation of #tech and #edtech in #Bcpse that we can hope for. You know, the good ole days. 3/3 well done.
