I don't know about the others, but his framing of the tobacco shop is spot on in BE. Bpost still has some drop-off points, but none of the big private shipping companies have.
In general, I don't think it's wrong to say we sacrificed a lot of (too much) customer service/centricity for the sake of efficiency in many parts of society. Banks, bakeries, butchers, clothing chops, all the local shops and branches are closed in favour of big chains and offices in the bigger cities.
