Last HS accolade for one of the most prolific backcourts we’ve ever had. @elijah_gaskins was a walking triple double waiting to happen and @seannmadrigal had arguably one of best shooting seasons ever 103-200 from 3 52%! Both will be taking a prep post grad year🔴⚪️🔵🏀
Our Public School Boys All-NOVA Team, Seniors. Pretty easy at the top, but got really hard toward the end with the Class of 2026's depth. It will be strange not seeing these guys on the HS hardwood next year. Team, here: novahoops.com/2025-2026-all-… via @X

With @LJSmith23972065's reclassification, #OhioState has a chance to have one of the most dangerous backcourts in the #B1G. ✍️ @_Pat_Murphy 247sports.com/college/ohio-s…

Keone Gates | 6’3 Wing @KeoneGates27158 What I Saw: •Elite first step and full-court speed. •Opportunity to become a versatile two-way player. •Length allows him to impact the game beyond scoring. •Constant pressure in transition and attacking downhill. Bio: Coming off a 5A State Championship season, Keone has an opportunity to shine in an expanded role alongside one of the state’s top backcourts. His motor, speed, and ability to put pressure on defenses make him a difficult matchup. Expect him to continue developing into a dynamic two-way wing.

Few backcourts in the country offer the balance this upcoming Carolina team possesses. Terrence Brown brings the pressure. Matt Able brings the shooting. Neo Avdalas brings the playmaking. Eclectic. Electric. #GoHeels

Notice what all have in common? All backcourt players. They lacked a big time front court player. They had decent backcourts. But not GREAT ONES. Them 3 there ALL either "are" or "will be" top 3 draft picks. If they'd had just a "1st round caliber" post, they'd been set.

WNBA fans should rejoice the Wings didn’t take Miles. PB and her would’ve been killing these weak ass backcourts for YEARS

We're not Indiana on defense. We can shut backcourts down. A lot of guards have not been shooting good against us.

Some thoughts as a I re-watch more Arkansas film. As bad defensively as Acuff was, Meleek is not far behind in terms of being bad on D They're both *really* talented on O, though Both freshmen Kind of reminds me of another recent Calipari backcourt tandem Sheppard & Dillingham. Both freshmen, both very talented on O, both had really good shooting seasons, both sus on D And the other guy in the backcourt for both teams was DJ Wagner Dillingham & Meleek both played Overtime Elite before college...both shot the 3 well but not elite at OTE (like around 36% from 3 on a high amount of OTD 3's) whereas Sheppard & Acuff were kind of meh as shooters pre-NCAA And both of these backcourts had a guy who had high stocks, although on film that player did not look nearly as good on D as the stocks numbers indicated (Reed, Meleek)

So the Cavs are the worst built team in the NBA when Dan Gilbert doesn’t have LeBron. Dan Gilbert Backcourts w/o LeBron: Mo/AP Kyrie/Gee Kyrie/Waiters 🚩 Kyrie/Waiters 🚩 Sexton/Clarkson Sexton/Garland 🚩 Garland/Okoro 🚩 Garland/Okoro 🚩 Garland/Mitchell 🚩 Garland/Mitchell 🚩 Harden/Mitchell 8 seasons we have both PG/SG under 6’6, can we step into the new NBA and get athletic wings please.

🏀 WNBA Prop #1 | 6/14 Brittney Sykes Under 7.5 Rebounds Assists ❤️ Like If You’re Tailing Sykes draws one of the toughest possible matchups for RA production tonight against an Atlanta defense that has consistently shut down opposing guards. 📊 Atlanta Defense vs Guards • 2nd in Defensive Rating • 3rd Fewest Rebounds Assists Allowed to Guards • Fewest Rebounds Allowed in the WNBA • 3rd Fewest Assists Allowed in the WNBA The Dream have made life difficult on opposing backcourts all season, limiting both rebounding opportunities and playmaking production at an elite level. Sykes has struggled in similar matchups throughout the year: • Under in all 6 games vs teams ranked Top 9 in rebounds allowed • Averaging just 5.5 RA in those contests She’s also faced defenses ranked among the Top 6 in limiting RA to guards three times this season and stayed under in every matchup, averaging only 5.7 RA. Another factor working in our favor is pace. ⏱️ Atlanta ranks 3rd slowest in pace this season, creating fewer possessions and reducing opportunities for rebounds and assists to accumulate. Between Atlanta’s elite defense, their ability to suppress both rebounds and assists from opposing guards, and the slower game environment, this projects as a difficult spot for Sykes to reach 8 RA tonight.

Why would Brunson's success push the Clippers toward Acuff? That's not a knock on Acuff, but projecting any small guard prospect to become Jalen Brunson is unrealistic. Brunson is an outlier. You don't build draft strategy around finding the next Brunson any more than you build it around finding the next Jokic. And the idea that teams are suddenly going to copy the Knicks' formula ignores the context of this Finals run. Credit to New York they won the title. But San Antonio was up double digits in every game, and their lack of experience repeatedly cost them. The Knicks capitalized, as good teams should. That doesn't mean the league is going to start chasing undersized guard backcourts because of one championship run. Front offices know how much circumstance, matchup luck, and timing can influence a title.
