🌱 A Garden Begins – Retiring in Japan 🇯🇵
This is the exact moment our garden begins. Yumiko leans forward with her くわフォーク (kuwa fōku)—a traditional Japanese hand fork—to mark and turn the first row on the soil I’ve spent the last few months reclaiming behind our little #Akiya home.
This plot, quiet for decades and once part of a #GreenTea farm, is slowly coming back to life. We’ll finish shaping the mounds this week, and by the weekend, we’ll plant our first #Tomatoes.
A small but meaningful beginning. A new chapter, carved gently into the earth—one row at a time. 🍅🧤✨

My garden is officially a veggie nursery! Along with the baby cabbages and broccoli, we now have tiny turnips and collards joining the party. Plus, we just added a whole new garden bed! Watching these little green gems sprout feels like having a front-row seat to nature’s cutest growth spurt. Next step: teaching them how to be strong, independent veggies! 🌱🥬 #GardenGoals#VeggieLove#GrowingGreens#FreshFromTheGarden#PlantParents#GardenLife#TurnipTheGreens#BackyardFarm
