Brotherhood 🙌 🙌 🙌
Balimaya translates as ‘brotherhood’ in the Maninka language of West Africa. If you were with us at Queen's Hall last night, you'll have felt this togetherness.
Thank you @BalimayaProject 💛

Balimaya Project, is a London-based 16 piece collective, uniquely fusing West-African folkloric music and jazz.
Formed in 2019 by percussionist Yahael Camara Onono.
The word Balimaya from the Maninka language, means the essence of kinship.. and is engrained in the moral fabric of the Mande people, which is what inspires Balimaya’s mission.
Bandleader Yahael pays homage to his Senegalese, Nigerian cultural roots throughout the music.
Yahael joins us this Sunday and we are exploring the life and times of this exciting ensemble, listening to some of their music along the way.
The Balimaya Project, is our Cover Story.
