• The Base MCP Hackathon wasn’t just another event. It was Base’s first official filter for projects that truly understand and know how to leverage the infrastructure they’re building.
• Two projects that came out of this hackathon stand out to me:
• $BASEY — Winner of the hackathon.
Built an AI agent with an immersive XR/3D interface, using MCP in a creative way. While most agents today are still chatbots or trading tools, Basey demonstrates how MCP can be used to create more human and visual experiences. The developer is actively building V2.
• $OS — Finalist in the same hackathon.
It also passed Base’s technical evaluation and was built with a real MCP-first approach. It represents another practical use case for the infrastructure Base wants to turn into a standard.
• What interests me most isn’t analyzing each project in isolation. It’s the fact that both were validated by Base in a hackathon focused specifically on MCP — the technology they’re trying to position as the foundation for AI agents.
• While the market chases random agent projects, these two already have something most don’t: direct validation from Base positioning within the infrastructure Base wants to scale.
• $BASEY $OS form an interesting thematic thesis: exposure to projects that were born inside Base’s official agent ecosystem.
