Year 6 became authors, rappers and poets, at @Batleylibrary last week. They had a brilliant time and produced some fantastic work that they will share with a wider audience π€©βοΈπ½π

What a fantastic morning at #BatleyLibrary today. Thank you to Mrs P (and her two daughters) for running the parent/ #community session. It was a great success and lovely to see Mrs V there, with her two little ones π₯°

It was interesting listening to councillors talking about public libraries; many seemed to think the other-than-book stuff was a recent development...
In the mid 1980's the librarians at Morecambe Central Library were doing all the 'extra' stuff

My mother read her way from the poverty of 1920-30s Batley to Cambridge University. Only made it with the support of @BatleyLibrary and before that the Co-Op Reading Room across the square. @CoopHeritage . She was probably a bit of a βswatβ thoughβ¦.

The next few days are going to be extremely tough. Many have cancelled travel plans. Many face a lonely Xmas.
But we must stay strong.
We can beat the virus.
Get tested - @BatleyLibrary 8-8pm available for all over 11 & if invited to get #vaccine- do it.
2021 can be better.
