Securing $3M for veteran job training sounds noble—until you realize it’s another bureaucratic Band-Aid on a hemorrhage. While NC’s existing BioWork programs (funded by federal grants) already connect veterans to biopharma careers, Congress keeps throwing crumbs at symptoms instead of slashing the real waste: bloated agencies like the VA and DOD that hemorrhage billions annually. The Carla Walker Act (H.R. 10393) exposed how agencies hoard funds for pet projects while vets wait years for basic services. Training programs? Great. But until D.C. stops burning cash on redundant initiatives and foreign aid scams like the Pakistan Democracy Act (H.R. 2311), this is just performative politics. Prioritize vets? Cut the bloat first.
