Getting jobs nowadays is mad difficult.
Even with a solid resume, getting into early projects is even harder.
But I came up with a strategy that works 99% of the time.
Here’s how I secure roles in Web3 even when projects aren’t hiring yet: 🧵
1. Find the project.
I go to
defillama.com/recent, scroll through the recently listed projects, click them, and grab their Twitter handles.
Simple. Fresh projects = fresh opportunities.
2. Apply first, show up after.
Once I join the community, I apply for a role straight up.
If they give a green light but say there’s no funding yet, that’s cool.
That’s when I start showing up consistently.
3. Make sure it’s a solid project.
Back then I used to go for any project just to work.
But after some experience, I realized that most projects without real utility eventually die.
Now, I only stick with ones I’d actually use even if I wasn’t getting paid.
4. Stay close to the team.
Keep showing up.
Reply to posts, drop ideas, write threads, and engage with the founders, devs, and community.
This part is long but if you’re active in 5 solid projects, it doesn’t feel that long.
5. Don’t drop all your ideas.
If you’ve got great ideas, share about 50%.
Save the rest to retain your value.
Keep researching, stay sharp, and know when to drop gems.
6. Bag the job at launch.
If you’ve been present and helpful, once the project gets funding or launches—they’ll remember.
That’s when you lock in your spot.
The real work pays off.
That’s my exact process for landing roles in early-stage Web3 projects.
No fancy connections. Just effort and positioning.
