Monday, January 27, 2025, 9:55 AM PDT: Los Angeles County was bull’s-eye for our first storm of the season. This is not the last of the rain there’s more coming, possibly around February 6 - 10, 2025 is being looked at closely in the next 24 - 42 hours. The La Niña pattern continues to weaken, allowing for more storm opportunities in the upcoming weeks.
Rainfall amounts to 0.64 to 2.4 inches across Southern California. The heaviest being in the San Fernando Valley and Western L.A. Counties and the Pacific Palisades burn areas, including the Franklin fire burn scar in Malibu. Numerous thunderstorms developed over the same area for several hours from Saturday 10 PM to Sunday 10PM.
This event would be considered a beneficial soaking event and welcomed. All of the fires in the Los Angeles County region are out now. The
#BorderFire fire is still being fought down in extreme southern portions of San Diego County. The precipitation in that region did help the firefight containment to 43% compared to the 25% two days ago.
