Congrats to our beloved Darajani Gogo Football Club (DGFC) for a winning start in the 2024/2025 National Super League (NSL) season following a very important 1-0 victory against Migori Youth FC taking all 3 massive points in a season opening match played this afternoon at our adopted home ground at KIHBT (Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology) in Ngong.
Unfortunately DGFC doesn’t have any suitable football grounds/stadium around Kibra as Woodley Stadium is still closed for renovation now going to 4 years forcing our teams from Kibra to seek alternative grounds that meet FKF requirements which are few and those available are all outside the area.
Kudos to Paul Ogari our DGFC Head Coach and & Football Technical Lead plus his Coaching Team under the new FKF club licensing regulations, together with our DGFC players comprising mainly new crop of young players ≤ 22 years average age led by Khubeib ‘Obeb’ Asena our DGFC Senior Men’s Team Captain proudly from Kibra - who has been with the team from lower tier Division Two and Division One to now plying the 2nd tier nationwide NSL.
DGFC marks 10 years since establishment in November 2014 formerly Gogo Boys FC from Darajani area in Kibra slums with a mantra of
#PlayingForChange, having debuted league soccer in 2015 at Sub-County League level then rising up the ranks through County, Regional, Division Two and Division One league to this 3rd season in NSL after decent performance in top 8 finishes in 2022/2023 plus 2023/2024 season.
The new FKF
@Football_Kenya club licensing requirements under CAF
@CAF_Online regulations make football at the top tiers very stringent and expensive, but our humble club with grassroots connection in Kibra slums is proud to be able to have met these requirements including sporting, legal and commercial restructuring as per CAF even as the club through our Management and Secretariat works hard to navigate the financial and other challenges for a successful club 38-matches and 10-months campaign.
Hearty appreciation to our key corporate sponsors who’ve expressed interest to support our boys from Kibra including E-Plus Emergency Medical Services
@EMS_Kenya as back shirt sponsors committed to providing the mandatory properly equipped and staffed standby ambulance for all our home matches in the 2024-25 season, as well as Kenya Red Cross Society
@KenyaRedCross our longest standing 1st sleeve shirt sponsor plus Freedom Airline
@FreedomAirKe our newest 2nd sleeve shirt sponsor.
