We made a wrong assumption early on building our AI trip planner. We thought: “scrape enough travel sites and you’re done.” (Our first product was a web agent.) Reality disagreed. Local closures, missing routes, long-tail details — none of it was there. That failure forced us to rethink how AI should reason, not just retrieve.
