WHO IS MORE SUPERIOR â THE ARCHITECT, THE CIVIL ENGINEER OR THE BUILDER?
Iâve seen people argue about this topic both online and in real life.
And to be honest, I used to get involved in the debate back in my early school days. I remember defending my side like it was a football match.
Recently, the same argument popped up under one of my posts and I felt it was time to share my view.
Hereâs what Iâve come to understand with experience.
Thereâs really no such thing as one being more superior than the other in a well-run construction project. What matters most is how well the team works together.
Each professional has a specific and important role to play.
The architect is the creative brain that brings the idea to life. They focus on the look, the function, and how people will use the space.
The civil or structural engineer takes that idea and makes sure it wonât collapse. They handle all the technical calculations to make sure the building is strong and safe.
The builder or site engineer is the one who makes the plan a reality. Theyâre on site, solving real-time problems, managing the workers, and making sure everything follows the right process.
If one person fails, the entire project can fall apart.
A nice design without proper structural input can be dangerous.
A strong plan without good site management can be ruined during construction.
And even the best builder canât do much without good drawings and engineering guidance.
So the question shouldnât be about who is more superior.
It should be about who understands their role and plays it well.
Because when a project is done right, itâs not one person that gets the credit.
Itâs the whole team.
What do you think? Have you ever found yourself in this kind of argument before?
Letâs hear your thoughts.
