La fotografía, registrada en la colección del Archivo General de la Nación y difundida por Buenos Aires Historia, muestra mucho más que un medio de transporte: retrata una Buenos Aires en movimiento, con hombres de traje y sombrero, trabajadores, vecinos y viajeros compartiendo el pulso de la calle. Para entonces, el colectivo ya se había convertido en una verdadera invención urbana argentina. Su origen se remonta a 1928, cuando un grupo de taxistas porteños comenzó a realizar viajes compartidos con recorridos fijos para abaratar costos y atraer pasajeros. Con el tiempo, aquellos autos adaptados fueron ganando identidad propia: colores, carteles de destino, recorridos más largos y una presencia cada vez mayor en la vida de la ciudad. El barrio de Parque Chacabuco también tenía su propia historia. El parque fue inaugurado oficialmente en 1903, sobre terrenos vinculados al antiguo Polvorín de Flores, y su trazado estuvo a cargo de Carlos Thays, una figura clave en la creación de grandes espacios verdes porteños. Por eso, esta imagen de la línea 66 no es solo una postal de transporte antiguo: es una ventana a la Buenos Aires de los años cuarenta, cuando el colectivo unía barrios, acercaba trabajos, mercados, cafés, familias y rutinas. 🔥 EL COLOSO ROJO Y BLANCO DE LA T.A.C.: CUANDO MENDOZA VIAJABA SOBRE UN SCANIA GIGANTE mendozantigua.blogspot.com/2… Esta imagen rescata a un verdadero símbolo de la memoria rutera mendocina: un DIC LD 1014 “Gigante”, recordado como el Coop. T.A.C. interno 249, una unidad imponente que llevó los colores rojo y blanco de Transportes Automotores de Cuyo por rutas, terminales y recuerdos de miles de pasajeros. Según la publicación original atribuida al Facebook de COOP. T.A.C. Argentina, este coche habría pertenecido a la flota de la cooperativa y se lo recuerda asociado a aquellos enormes ómnibus montados sobre chasis Scania 112, famosos por su andar firme, su presencia robusta y la comodidad que ofrecían en los viajes de media y larga distancia. La referencia también menciona que T.A.C. tuvo unidades similares en internos como el 7 y el 12. La historia de la T.A.C. es mucho más que la de una empresa de transporte: fue una parte esencial de la vida cotidiana de Mendoza. Sus orígenes se vinculan con la llegada de la Compañía Internacional Transportes Automóviles —C.I.T.A.— en 1930, y la cooperativa como tal comenzó sus actividades el 1 de septiembre de 1960. En sus años de esplendor, llegó a unir casi todo el país y extendió sus servicios hacia Chile, Brasil, Bolivia, Paraguay y Uruguay; incluso alcanzó unos 2.000 socios y transportó cerca de 17 millones de pasajeros por año. Dentro de esa época dorada, carrocerías como DIC, Cametal y San Antonio marcaron una estética inolvidable en los coches de larga distancia de la cooperativa. El modelo DIC LD 1014, en versiones sobre Scania K112, aparece registrado en archivos busólogos argentinos como una de esas máquinas de gran porte que definieron la silueta de los ómnibus interurbanos de los años 80. Ver hoy esta unidad es volver a una Mendoza de terminales llenas, encomiendas, boleterías, viajes nocturnos, choferes de oficio y pasajeros que confiaban en esos gigantes para cruzar provincias.
