This was the last photo we took before I had to be induced on my own in the same way I was induced with my stillborn son. My husband could go to the pub, but he couldn’t be with me until I was in “active” labour. #butnotmaternity

No surprises to me ( not London based) but the inconsistencies in the rules beetween trusts heightened the sense of unfairness & grief. Here's my story: *Expecting More* kathughes.co.uk/expecting-mo… @pbcanofficial #covidpregnancy #covidbirth #expectingstory #butnotmaternity

In Nov ‘21 & my partner was sent home three hours after CS. I cried & cried & was told by a nurse it was one rule for everyone no matter their situation. I couldn’t move to care for my baby. It affected me so much more than I realised at the time. #ButnotMaternity

Just look at the Covid maternity restrictions last year when England had ‘opened up’- women left alone, isolated, uncared for while everyone else allowed to gather en masse. Was I being hazed by maternity care when I was left alone on a postnatal ward in Nov 21? #ButNotMaternity

So much preventable trauma. Maternity care let these restrictions take hold. I had a baby in Nov ‘21- partner made to leave 3h after birth. I couldn’t walk/lift her yet I spent 12h alone overnight with her. We’d isolated & both vaxxed. #ButNotMaternity #BirthTrauma #PandemicBaby
These are really sad stories of giving birth alone during the pandemic restrictions. bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lo… #birthtrauma

At 36 weeks pregnant I’m higher risk but not eligible for 4th booster. If I get it, I’ll need 10 days of painful blood thinner injections to prevent blood clot in placenta/ stillbirth. If my partner gets it, he’ll be allowed in the pub but not the maternity unit😡#butnotmaternity

Let’s take some of the #tokophobia themes identified by Slade et al (2019)- 1) fear of being abandoned/alone- a very valid fear esp during the pandemic when women were forced to be alone during some of the most challenging & traumatic #maternity experiences. 🧵 #Butnotmaternity
‘Tokophobia is a marker for many other perinatal MH problems’ important point made by @calimarshall at todays #tokophobia_2022 event. Reiterating the importance of early identification, interventions & partnership pathways to ensure best outcomes 👏

I went through most of labour solo during lockdown and had to stay in hospital for a further 5 nights with minimal visits from my husband. And our maternity restrictions were considered relatively 'good'. "Sorry" doesn't quite cut it.... #butnotmaternity
"He's only sorry he got caught" Lib Dem leader Ed Davey says PM "didn't care when he partied during lockdown, when people couldn't see their dying loved ones" Boris Johnson says he and staff "cared passionately" and "protected this country from Covid" bbc.in/3wQhV1s

It seems fitting that this podcast has come out on the same day as #SueGray publishes her report. When so many women, including me, were alone in hospital having their babies, the Government was drinking together. I feel hot with rage at the very thought of it. #ButNotMaternity
I was really proud to speak to @philly_guillou about how my life was turned upside down after having G in the pandemic - and how I catapulted from music sector @ISM_music to birth sector @birthrightsorg as a result. With a trigger warning for discussion re PTSD & traumatic birth

Not to mention the @Butnotmaternity campaign, whose 672,000 supporters campaigned relentlessly to allow partners to join them at hospital appointments and in labour.
