Yes, we need to better communicate the science to the public #CFASChat
It seems like one clear lesson of the pandemic is that science itself is not sufficient if the product of that science doesn’t reach the public. Academic medicine is particularly well-positioned to help tackle that challenge given its intersecting missions #CFASchat

Agree entirely – it may not be suitable for influenza, especially since we already have a system that works (for the most part). But for other viral diseases, mRNA vaccines might be a godsend. #CFASChat

Not an expert, but I’ve read they make vaccine production much faster and more efficient. This might help with the next pandemic as well endemic flu since we’re always guessing what flu strain might show up. #CFASChat

That's what makes science so fun! #CFASChat
The urgency of the COVID-19 pandemic helped bring about necessary funding and collaboration between public and private entities to use mRNA vaccine technology to develop a vaccine for the new coronavirus. #CFASChat

The impromptu conversations, often with people you just met, were one of the best parts of in-person meetings. I know I've learned more from these than some of the talks. Definitely made more lifelong friends. #CFASChat
