Zahn describes and illustrates so many cameras and lanterns in ‘Oculus artificialis teledioptricus sive Telescopium,’ published in 1702, that he out-does Kircher in his combined editions of ‘Ars Magna.’

Pictured are four pages showing Camera Obscuras: pp172, 178, 689, 692.
What an amazing book from 323 years ago. You don't have to read Latin - you can easily translate as you go. And all images are in English.
Zahn also designed several portable Camera Obscuras for drawing using the 45-degree mirror, and used side flaps to shield unwanted light (seen in the left image).
Zahn's Camera Obscuras were the closest thing to what 19th century cameras were.
