If only you were Elon! I would love to see a starship launch from the control room, with a pre-launch brief for each station, what to see on their screens. Comms is probably most important, even as in manned flight before.
I watched Apollo 13 live and worried. They had more problems up there than public ever knew. For them to get home was a victory! Gene Kranz had great quotes, but his point was, they weren't going to die on his watch! Jim Lovell was my hero. Met them both at a user conference, our keynote speakers.
I met Gene in hall on quick pee break for me, nobody around. We talked for 5 minutes! He was funny, said his character in movie was a 'composite' character, he never lost his temper and kicked trash can!
As fate would have it, I caught Jim's eye. Sat in front row, participated, smiled, teary-eyed during his talk. Snuck out of Gene's talk early (bladder size of walnut suddenly). Ran into Jim, nobody around. We could hug, talk for a good 15 mins before people pouring out and he slipped away. Most thrilling time in Las Vegas ever!
I have the Apollo 13 pin I received for saving crew from CO2 debacle, good at puzzles. But on last day at CapComm I missed a warning that would have killed them. Too much coming in too quick!
Please let my hubby and I enjoy starship launch, with plenty of notice. I do not fly. When we drive we take our time now. He'd rather the launch from outside, hear the noise, feel the rumble, not so much a squint like me.
