🌊 Strengthening Partnerships for Oceans, Biodiversity and Climate The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) convened a high-level Partners Roundtable and Structured Dialogue on 26 March 2026, advancing regional leadership in sustainable ocean management and climate resilience. Held in the margins of the 124th Special Meeting of COTED - Environment and Sustainable Development, the dialogue was co-chaired by 🇬🇧 UK Chargé d’Affaires Mr Liam McShane and 🇧🇿 Minister Hon. Orlando Habet, Chair of COTED Environment signalling a strong commitment to deepening collaboration. Today, #CARICOM Secretary-General Dr Carla Barnett paid homage to the Honourable Roderick Rainford, CCH, OJ, OCC, former Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community, who passed away on 4 April 2026. Dr Barnett led the signing of the condolence book, followed by other members of staff of the CARICOM Secretariat. In brief remarks to staff, Dr Barnett noted that Mr Rainford, a Jamaican national, was instrumental in guiding the early discussions that shaped CARICOM’s transition from a Common Market to a Single Market, helping to advance the vision for deeper regional economic integration. Prior to serving as Secretary-General (1983-1992) the Honourable Roderick Rainford, was also the Deputy Secretary-General of #CARICOM and served his country of Jamaica, as Governor of the Bank of Jamaica.
