Yet again our disabled citizens badly let down; excluded from basic amenities. City council hands back funding for fully accessible city centre @ChangingPlace toilet! How did this happen - & we want to attract visitors to Peterborough!! @docshab@andrewpakes_@sam_carling_
We warned this could happen.
Sadly, for #disabled people in #Peterborough, it has been confirmed that the opportunity to install a #ChangingPlace toilet in the City Centre at the Cathedral has been lost as the government funding has now been withdrawn. peterboroughtoday.co.uk/news…
Very disappointed to learn that the opportunity to install a #ChangingPlace toilet for #disabled people in #Peterborough City Centre at the Cathedral has been lost.
Funding was granted for 3⃣ toilets for the city but only 2⃣ were ever built.

A thread sharing the easy read event information for Rise Of The Rebels a free, playful event for disabled & non disabled children & young people 6-25 @OasisPlay, London, 01/11/24 book here: touretteshero.typeform.com/t… 1/5
ALT The cover for the Rise of The Rebels event easy read information. There is a colourful logo made of brightly coloured bars and blocky text spelling out the event name. Text reads: Rise Of The Rebels Event Information Easy Read. Page 1 of 6
I think many of us were hoping it would be more easily visible and accessible and on the ground floor. However, having an additional #ChangingPlace facility sited at #Peterborough Cathedral would be an enormous help.
Such good news that this #ChangingPlace toilet has now opened in Queensgate #Peterborough. However, as it is on Level 11, it's imperative it's well signposted and the lifts are kept in working order. #DisabilityMatters
It's been announced that new #ChangingPlace toilets will be installed at Queensgate in #Peterborough city centre. This is such encouraging news; it will help the city become a more accessible and welcoming place. We look forward to further details. peterboroughtoday.co.uk/news…
Thrilled to work with the wonderful @TommyShakes today at @NPGLondon to tell an important media story about access for people with #disabilities - the gallery is now one of the most accessible venues in London thanks to the expert installation of a #ChangingPlace by @Innova_Care
Dear @PeterboroughCC, according to this, unless the Council has evidence that building work on the #ChangingPlace toilets has begun by 31st March 2024, the city will lose its government funding for these much-needed facilities. That's only 153 days (106 workdays) left. ⏳
The clock is ticking to get your #ChangingPlaces projects completed before the funding deadline!
Find out how we can take the pressure off you by ensuring the design, install and registration of your facility is completed before the 31st March 2024.

Despite #Peterborough's administration having a named #Disability Champion and advisor on Adult Social Care:
➡️The city's well-used #hydrotherapy pool closed
➡️No site for a #ChangingPlace toilet so funding may be lost
➡️Disabled adults are now threatened with this ⤵️
There's now only 207 days left before #Peterborough could lose its funding for #ChangingPlace toilet(s).
In this time, a site(s) must be found and installation work begun.
Fantastic to hear and just the case for a standalone #ChangingPlace loo, when inside space is difficult. They really do make a huge difference not just to your visitors but to the local visitor economy by increasing access to 1:260 people! 🙂
Love the accessible infrastructure around @DiscoverKelpies & Helix Park.
So well designed for us wheelies 👩🦽👩🦼
Icing on the cake now - to be able to benefit from the #ChangingPlace toilet and not have to cut my trip out short.
Thank you @falkirkcouncil@ChangingPlaceUK

Thanks Alyn, glad to see you here helping us other Tyndrum residents.
Good to talk to you about biz challenges, housing shortages funding challenges that threaten the future of @FVFoodDrink other important industry projects, plus share progress re, @ChangingPlace 4 Tyndrum.
So:
➡️Lifts in the shopping centre are still not working
➡️After a year, still no location found for a #ChangingPlace toilet
➡️The city's busy #hydrotherapy pool closed by the council despite a buyer and operator in place
What message is being sent to #disabled people?
Weeks after issues with the lifts at Queensgate were raised, they are still out of order - leading to problems for those with disabilities or mobility issues
