Abuela Alma. Opening a new series, 3D visual development from Encanto, Walt Disney Animation Studios’ 60th feature. The matriarch of the Familia Madrigal, and the character the whole cast was anchored to. Her age and emotional weight needed proportions naturalistic enough to carry the story’s feeling, while staying graphic enough to live in the film’s world. Finding that balance on her set the tone every other Madrigal evolved from. A close collaboration with Art Director Bill Schwab.
