Then they should be sent back by the cheapest secure route available, including by ship. Punishment for breaking the law by letting your fly back like an Arab prince is ridiculous. There is no reason for removal to be comfortable, decorative, or expensive. It should be orderly, firm, and unmistakably punitive. A nation that pays lavishly to deport lawbreakers invites more of the same. A nation that makes the offender bear the cost teaches a lesson that travels faster than any government leaflet.
