This
#Ramadan, when the call to prayer softens the sky and your hands reach for a date to break your fast, pause for a moment.
Ask yourself:
Who does this sweetness serve?
Ramadan is not only hunger and thirst.
It is conscience.
It is restraint.
It is standing firm against injustice.
It is refusing to let comfort blind us to suffering.
Some of the dates stacked high on supermarket shelves travel through systems that profit from occupation, apartheid, and the crushing of a people’s dignity.
Behind glossy packaging and “Holy Land” labels can stand corporations tied to settlements built on stolen land, watered by exploited resources, sustained by oppression.
This Ramadan, don’t let your iftar be complicit.
Choose with intention.
Buy from ethical sources.
Support Palestinian farmers.
Ask where your food comes from.
Let your fast break with integrity.
Because our fast is an act of worship.
Our du‘a is a plea for justice.
Our charity is meant to lift the oppressed.
How can we raise our hands at night and ignore what they hold at sunset?
Let this Ramadan be more than ritual.
Let it be resistance against injustice.
Let every date you eat be clean of blood and full of barakah.
Faith without action is hollow.
This Ramadan, let your plate reflect your principles.
