This week, Moyale played host to the Quarterly Cross Border Child Protection Working Group (CBCPWG) , a vibrant convergence of changemakers from Kenya 🇰🇪 and Ethiopia 🇪🇹 committed to protecting the most vulnerable: our children.
From law enforcement, judiciary, local chiefs, immigration officers, education officials, to community leaders and private sector players, the room was filled with powerful voices, each echoing a common call — no child should fall through the cracks because of a border.
As movement across borders increases, so do the risks such as trafficking, child labour, early marriage, statelessness. But this meeting was about flipping that narrative, turning borders into bridges of protection and collaboration.
✅ Participants agreed on concrete actions: 🔹 Open and secure cross-border communication lines
🔹 Joint training and knowledge exchange
🔹 Shared resources and harmonized protocols
🔹 Stronger case management and referral pathways
In a world where global crises from conflict to climate change are uprooting millions, this kind of cross-border solidarity isn’t just timely, it’s necessary. Because child protection doesn’t stop at the border, and neither should our efforts.
🛡️💬 “We don’t just share borders; we share responsibility.”
The future is collaborative, cross-sectoral, and child-centered.
