We in Shropshire had our own Cinderloo uprising in 1821. Where one Thomas Palin was hung, as an example to the rest of the impoverished workers.

If governments of every political stripe refuse to deal with an issue that a huge number of people are concerned about, lie to them amount it, inflict the consequences of it upon them without their consent and despite their protests, call them racists and far right and mock them for their concerns, eventually something will happen. Many riots are viewed with equanimity in hindsight. Spitalfield riots. Nottingham cheese riots, Gordon riots, Revolt of the housewives, Priestly riots, Peterloo massacre, Cinderloo uprising, Days of May, and so on. English history is replete with riots.

A very enjoyable walk around the Cinderloo walk route. Great company ,loads to talk about. A while since we last did this so half of us excused for missing the "slagbear" and taking a km muddy detour in the woods. cinderloo.com/

I haven’t actually seen this! I’m just back from Welshpool, Llangollen & Loopfest festivals recently & I’m back to Welshpool this weekend. It could be a very different kind of gig, I’m not doing “live lounge covers”. Will do Cinderloo though and poss wear my @telfordutd shirt😍

Looking at the route Dave's posted there were maybe seven or eight benchmarks you wandered past - a photo of the one on the (old) Hollinswood / Snedshill's footbridge near the Cinderloo bridge is attached. The link is to my Telford Benchmarks Google Map google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1…

artefact in the woods- looks like a boulder a glacial erratic but rust colouring and its position in a historical #coalmining and #ironworking area point to waste from #smelting. The word #slag bear comes to mind. Have I dreamt that name? #cinderloo #Telford #Moss and #lichen

202 years after Tom Palin was hung, #Cinderloo finally has a name plate to recognise the lasting legacy of the people who fought for social justice 2 centuries ago

1/- Cinderloo - in 1821 - 18months after Peterloo in Manchester England miners in Shropshire struck and were also attached by the yeomanry. Lots of local activists and amateur historians worked for the 200th anniversary but it was wrecked by lockdown. cinderloo.com/2022/12/31/hau…
