Yesterday, @wearevcmi launched its #ClaimsCode, marking a significant step forward in shaping the future for voluntary carbon markets.
🧵Here's a breakdown of why this roadmap is crucial for climate action:
"When it is complete, this tool could build trust and confidence in the market's ability to help companies meet their net-zero commitments with high integrity," said EDF's Vice President of Global Climate Cooperation, @MandyRambharos, about the VCMI #ClaimsCode
Thank you to both @wef and @WMBtweets for recognising the role of VCMI in improving the carbon market, and acknowledging that - though there is much work to be done to define best practice - the #ClaimsCode will help point the way forward.
"Corporates on a #NetZero journey must first take ambitious action within their businesses to reduce their GHG emissions, & then use high-quality carbon credits to offset remaining emissions. Initiatives like @wearevcmi point the way forward."

Thanks to everyone who participated in the public consultation and road-testing of the VCMI #ClaimsCode and reaffirmed the importance of clear guidance on use of carbon credits.
We joined policymakers, businesses and civil society groups at #ClimateWeekNYC to discuss how high integrity voluntary carbon markets can help us reach the Paris target.
