#ClimateTransparency Today marked the commencement of the first online training session under the Capacity Building Initiative for Transparency Phase II (CBIT II) project, bringing together 107 participants from government institutions, academia, civil society and the private sector to strengthen Uganda’s climate transparency systems. The session introduced participants to the Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF) under the Paris Agreement, greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory reporting processes, Biennial Transparency Reports (BTRs) and the importance of integrating gender considerations into climate reporting. Participants also explored the critical role of accurate, transparent and verifiable data in supporting Uganda’s climate commitments, national planning and access to climate finance. Uganda Launches Capacity & Data Gaps Report for GHG Mitigation Sectors Uganda has taken a decisive step forward in strengthening its climate transparency systems with the launch of the Capacity and Data Management Gaps and Needs for Key GHG Mitigation Sectors report under the CBIT II Project, on 27th March 2026 at the #UWEWK2026. The report serves as a strategic roadmap to enhance data systems, institutional capacity, and coordination, critical pillars for effective and accountable climate action. At the launch, @okidi64, Permanent Secretary, @min_waterUg, emphasised that closing these gaps is essential to ensure Uganda’s climate actions are measurable, reportable and verifiable, while strengthening the credibility of the country’s NDCs. He further stressed that transparent data is key to unlocking climate finance, calling on stakeholders to leverage the report to mobilise resources and accelerate Uganda’s transition to a low-carbon, climate-resilient economy. This milestone reinforces Uganda’s commitment to data-driven climate action, strengthened transparency and sustainable development. Sharing Uganda’s Climate Transparency Journey at the #UWEWK2026 On 25th March 2026, at the Uganda Water and Environment Week 2026, CBIT II Uganda Project presented its story, highlighting progress in strengthening national capacity for climate transparency under the Paris Agreement. The journey was presented by @chekwoti, the CBIT-GSP Uganda Focal point and Principal Climate Change Officer (Mitigation), @CCD_UG – @min_waterUg, who shared key milestones and progress under the project.
