A Powerful El Niño Is Heating the Planet and Reshaping Global Weather A powerful El Niño has officially developed in the tropical Pacific, and scientists warn it could grow into a rare “Super El Niño.” As warm ocean waters release vast amounts of heat into the atmosphere, the phenomenon may help push global temperatures to new record highs. El Niño is a natural climate pattern, but this event is unfolding on a planet already warmed by human-caused climate change. The combination could intensify heatwaves, fuel extreme weather, and increase the risk of coral bleaching and marine heatwaves around the world. Its impacts vary by region: wetter conditions may affect parts of the southern United States, while Australia and Southeast Asia could face hotter, drier weather and a greater wildfire risk. Researchers say the coming months will be a crucial test of how Earth's climate responds to overlapping natural and human-driven warming. #ClimateScience 101 even @OneNationAus voters should understand The remaining carbon budget for 1.5°C, the total CO2 the world can still emit for an even chance of holding the line against rising temperatures, stood at 130 billion tonnes at the start of 2026. But will any journalist ask the question ? #Insiders healthpolicy-watch.news/plan…

A stitched-together 30-year satellite record suggests accelerating sea level rise. Direct coastal measurements going back more than a century largely do not. Funny how the shorter record always gets the headlines. #SeaLevelRise #ClimateScience #ClimateAlarmism #TideGauges

Climate change begins with a simple question: how does the Earth balance its temperature? Dr Will Howard explains that the energy driving our weather systems comes from the sun. The Earth absorbs that energy, gives off heat as infrared radiation, and normally settles into a kind of balance. Greenhouse gases are part of that system and help make the planet habitable. But human activity has added more greenhouse gases to the atmosphere, especially through burning fossil fuels. That changes the balance. To rebalance, the Earth warms. Before we can debate policy, disasters or future risk, we need to understand the basic science. Climate change is not a slogan. It is a change in the planet’s energy system. 🎬 WATCH: youtu.be/ZXOoaK41jGs 🎧 LISTEN: open.spotify.com/episode/5w3… Subscribe to our regular YouTube podcast youtube.com/@Dr.MikeKelly 🔗 Follow: Instagram: @Dr.MikeKellyAM X: @MikeKellyofEM Facebook: mike.kelly.819432 LinkedIn: mike-kelly-0336a055 Guest LinkedIn: Dr Will Howard 🟦 #FrontlinesandFaultlines #DrMikeKelly #ClimateChange #ClimateScience #DisasterRisk #NationalResilience #Australia

Scientists at Yale University (@Yale) have built a remarkable solar-powered "artificial leaf" that transforms carbon dioxide and water directly into liquid methanol fuel using nothing but sunlight, with no external electricity required! The device combines cobalt phthalocyanine molecules attached to carbon nanotubes, which act as electron highways feeding the catalyst, with microscopic silicon pillars coated in fullerene carbon that boost charge separation and reaction efficiency, creating one of the most efficient silicon-based photoelectrocatalytic methanol conversion systems ever reported. Beyond producing a clean, storable liquid fuel that can move through existing energy infrastructure, the technology could also play a powerful role in capturing atmospheric carbon dioxide and recycling it into usable energy. If successfully scaled, this breakthrough could transform how we think about renewable energy production and industrial carbon capture simultaneously! 🌿☀️⚗️🔋🌍✨ #ArtificialLeaf #SolarEnergy #CarbonCapture #Methanol #RenewableEnergy #Yale #Photosynthesis #CleanEnergy #GreenFuel #ClimateScience interestingengineering.com/e… pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/jac…
