🧠📸 “NO SNOOPING, WE SWEAR” — SRI LANKA’S BIOMETRIC ID GOES FULL BLACK MIRROR 🇱🇰💥
Facial scans. Fingerprints. Iris data.
Funded by India. Printed by India.
Stored in a central system.
But don’t worry — “local staff will protect your data.”
What could possibly go wrong? 👇 🧵
Sri Lanka just promised there will be no data breach in its new India-funded digital NIC system.
But here’s the truth:
🔹 INR₹ 450M Indian aid
🔹 Tender given to Indian firm
🔹 Facial fingerprint iris capture
🔹 Data stored in centralized infrastructure
🔹 Surveillance-ready in one click
Ministers claim:
“Iris scanners haven’t been bought yet.”
“No medical data will be taken.”
“Everything is managed by locals.”
“Media is exaggerating.”
Meanwhile: No strong data law. No independent audits. No guarantees. Just trust.
🚨 Once your biometrics are centralized, you don’t own your identity.
You license it — from the state.
It’s not just about “cards.”
It’s about permanent traceability, digital scoring, and political control.
India’s Aadhaar is already the world’s largest biometric surveillance system.
Now it’s exporting the model.
If Sri Lanka plugs in — without firewalls, encryption mandates, or legal safeguards — it enters a point of no return.
🧩 Will India have data access?
🧩 Can future governments weaponize this system?
🧩 Can banks, police, or foreign firms exploit it?
🧩 What if you’re wrongly flagged — can you “opt out”?
Answer: No one knows. Not even the Cabinet.
This is NOT digital progress.
This is biometric dependency — with no rollback clause.
And the worst part?
It’s being rolled out in the name of efficiency and poverty reduction.
The panopticon always wears a friendly mask at first.
Sri Lanka is not building a digital ID.
It’s building a biometric operating system for the entire population — without a constitution for code.
Wake up now, or live scanned forever.
