Been immersing myself a bit more in Cyprus. Found an amazing local restaurant in Limassol — Taverna Christakis. Hopefully I’m not sharing local secrets. Went to Lady’s Mile Beach. Tried KEO St. John Commandaria, which was a very good surprise. Beautiful dessert wine. Also had an interesting moments where a friend casually told me about a 1986 rocket and mortar attack on a British base here, allegedly linked to a Nasserite group with Libyan connections. I like feeling the tannins lol I will have moscato only if I have sour fruits to accompany it or something equally non-sweet. If you like sweet wines give commandaria a go if you can find it! it's a dessert wine, you can have it chilled or warm, it's yummy

📍 FINAL DAY - John Kiriakou Among Cyprus’ Ancient Kingdoms & Crusader Castles 🇨🇾 Greco-Roman amphitheaters. Crusader fortresses. Mediterranean cliffs. Layers of civilization stretching back thousands of years. We visited KOURION - one of the great ANCIENT CITY-KINGDOMS OF CYPRUS, dramatically perched above the Mediterranean. Walking through its amphitheater, mosaics, baths, and archaeological remains dating back over 2,000 years, you truly feel how many civilizations have passed through this island. We then stopped beneath the white cliffs of KOURION BEACH to meet my brother for lunch overlooking the Mediterranean. The day ended at KOLOSSI CASTLE - the medieval fortress tied to the KNIGHTS HOSPITALLER, THE CRUSADES, RICHARD THE LIONHEART, and the origins of COMMANDARIA WINE - considered one of the oldest named wines on Earth.
