Today, @Prof_IKNyamongo, our Deputy Vice Chancellor (ACDRI), officially closed a three-day training workshop on Competency-Based Education (CBE) Training Workshop held at @CoopVarsityKE (Main Campus, Karen) from Wednesday, 3rd June 2026, to Friday, 5th June 2026. This transformative Workshop was organized by Prof. John Kihoro, Director of the Directorate of Academic Quality Assurance (DAQA), and facilitated by Dr. George Kwenya. The workshop brought together University faculty to deepen their understanding of the principles and philosophy of CBE, design competency-based curricula and learning outcomes, and apply effective CBE approaches in coaching, mentoring, and assessment. Participants developed practical skills on how to develop competency-based lesson plans and rubrics, explored strategies to strengthen quality assurance mechanisms for CBE implementation, and worked on institutional action plans to support the successful adoption and implementation of the Competency-Based Education in the University. Strengthening digital learning for the Middle Stage! A Review Workshop on Competency-Based E-Content in English was successfully organised from 9–13 February 2026 at NCERT, New Delhi. During the workshop, four external and three local resource persons, along with two experts from CIET, collaboratively worked on finalising draft scripts for e-content development. After thorough review and scrutiny, 15 scripts were found suitable for further development. The two-day #LMCS monitoring exercise in Wajir West has successfully concluded, marking an important milestone in strengthening digital learning implementation across the sub-county. The Frontier Counties Development Council (FCDC), working in close collaboration with the @EduMinKenya led by Madam Sadia Abdikeir, Deputy Director of Education, conducted monitoring visits across 16 schools — #Maumau Primary, #Wagalla Primary, #Boa Primary, #Tulatula Primary, #Mirgoharun Primary, Forest Primary, #Griftu Primary, #Taqwa Primary, #Al Hagar Primary & Junior School, Shantabaaq Primary, #Laqbogol Primary, #Elgal Primary, #Guticha Primary, #Samataar Primary, and #Bojiyare Primary — to assess readiness and progress in the implementation of the @Raspberry_Pi Foundation (RPF) computing module. The monitoring focused on ICT teachers who previously underwent training on 26th and 27th January 2026, with particular attention given to how the acquired skills and knowledge are being translated into classroom practice. The team engaged school leadership and teachers, observed live classroom sessions, reviewed the availability and functionality of ICT equipment, and provided guidance on the monthly reporting template to strengthen accountability, consistency in reporting, and learning documentation. The exercise generated valuable insights on implementation progress, teacher preparedness, existing infrastructure, and areas requiring continued technical and institutional support.
