Notre Dame Prep’s varsity competitive cheer team and senior Maren Studt were recognized Tuesday in the City of Pontiac City Council chambers for outstanding state championship achievements. The Irish cheer team was honored for winning the MHSAA Division 3 state championship for the second straight year. Studt also was recognized for earning back-to-back state titles in Division 2 girls ski slalom and giant slalom. The City of Pontiac’s recognition highlighted the dedication, hard work and pride these student-athletes continue to bring to Notre Dame Prep and the Pontiac community. COMPETITIVE CHEER: Notre Dame Prep claimed the MHSAA Division 3 regional championship this weekend in Novi, earning back-to-back regional titles and punching their ticket back to the state finals at Central Michigan University. Driven by patience, practice, perseverance and a commitment to excellence, the Irish pushed past undefeated Richmond High School in rounds two and three to secure the win, 782.6 to 775.84. Next up: the MHSAA Division 3 state finals on Saturday, March 7, at 11 a.m., where NDP will face Richmond, Armada and Grosse Ile with a state title on the line. Surrounded by family, friends, and alumni, the Irish showcased the results of a week defined by hard work, focus and team bonding. Posting the highest round 2 score of the competition (230.74) and finishing with an overall total of 785.04, the team secured a district runner-up finish and advanced one step closer to the ultimate goal — the state finals on March 7. COMPETITIVE CHEER: Strong showing at the Adams Invitational The road to the ring continues for Notre Dame Prep Competitive Cheer, and yesterday at the Rochester Adams Invitational, the Irish delivered a strong performance in varsity D3, finishing third. The team came out sharp in rounds 1 and 2 and proudly debuted a brand-new round 3, continuing to show growth, confidence and consistency on the mat. The atmosphere at Adams was electric with a large NDP cheer section in attendance, including Class of 2025 alumnae Mikayla Bidawid and Catalina Ballesty, whose support helped fuel the team throughout the day. Each week this group continues to get better and stronger as they build momentum toward the postseason.
