Software never competed with human labor, just empowered it. Intelligence, on the other hand, competes directly with human labor and replaces it. This can't be thought of as a continuum in any way. Intelligence-led world is a new world and everything changes. Software delivered improvement in productivity. Intelligence delivers outcomes. Software was a means to an end. Intelligence is/gives you the end. We made this transition towards "outcomes" with DPDZero back in 2022 just around when ChatGPT was launched and have never looked back. Our latest investment is focused on dramatically changing R&D timelines, processes and outcomes to drive unprecedented pace in inventing in frontier manufacturing. Can't be more excited about what lies ahead.
"The world essentially created software at the promise of productivity." Vaibhav Domkundwar (@vaibhavbetter), on why AI is enabling Outcome-as-a-Service businesses instead of traditional software companies. "Now we are going from software to intelligence. And the way it's working now is intelligence is using humans when required to deliver productivity." "And I think enterprises are done buying software. So we'll see a lot more outcomes-as-a-service companies that will find success." @better_capital

Imagine working a job where the description seems innocuous enough ,"Collect Payments." But the unwritten playbook to actually do that job? Call borrowers repeatedly. Shout and abuse them. Repeat until the money comes in. This is the reality of India's collections ecosystem, as described by @Ananthshroff, co-founder of @dpdzero (Fund IV), at Blume Day 2026. India's credit infrastructure has made a remarkable leap. Today, a loan can be disbursed faster than a Zepto delivery. But collections still remain manual, fragmented, and stuck in a different era entirely. But collection agents aren't the problem. They're working with incomplete intelligence and impossible targets, which forces them to resort to abuses, threats, and all sorts of unscrupulous means. In his AI Forward talk at Blume Day 2026, Ananth explains how building the intelligence layer for collections addresses this core friction. Equipped with AI, agents know exactly who to call, when to call, and how to negotiate, so intimidation is no longer a substitute for insight. This helps them collect better and not resort to abusing their borrowers, who in turn feel like borrowing more, making the entire credit ecosystem more robust. AI marketing calls in India are already 10000000x better than the extremely bad/noisy/unclear human calls. All those human call centers are 100% dead ...and sooner than later. We've invested in this thesis for a while now covering infra (Smallest AI, Schnitt AI) to apps (DPDZero, Robylon) and the acceleration over the past 6 months has been insane. It will also be a race to the bottom for upto the 90th percentile and the only the best - quality / context / workflow etc. will win this market big time.

Ananth Shroff, founder of DPDzero (Fund IV), on stage now. Topic: Unlocking India's next phase of credit growth Key insights: → We have unlocked financial access to credit but the system to collect loans are archaic. It's still the stepchild of credit. Plagued by a lack of tact and systems. DPDzero is changing this restoring borrowers faith in the credit ecosystem. → They are using AI to empower agents to collect more humanely. It's the collection agents' very own Jarvis. → They are trying to create the infrastructure for the entire collection system. AI isn't just changing credit. It's rebuilding it from the ground up. @Ananthshroff #BlumeDay2026 #TheOrbitsAreShifting

This is well written and explained. We wrote a small note on outcomes being the future (bettercapital.vc/oaas) and have been investing in that core thesis since 2022. Nihar explains the nuances really well here. Light outcomes will be owned by the model companies that are building app layers. Its the complex and heavier process driven outcomes with in-depth specific knowledge - with ownership of those outcomes - where the opportunity lies and where core model companies are unlikely to invest anytime in the near future. There isn't uniform acceptance of this view though. We still see the confusion about "is this services" or "aren't services companies delivering outcomes anyway" and a lot more across the spectrum. What proves this works is when you look at portcos who "show it" to you and we have had a good share of learnings from those. Xhipment "owns" the delivery of packages across global lanes with unparalleled realtime visibility while abstracting licenses, paperwork, regulation away from customers. Mezink "owns" influencer marketing outcomes for global brands and delivers better ROI than old world agencies or new age software companies by doing all the complex work with the customers having to do nothing at all. Accounti "owns" the ownership records desk for global funds and facilitates buy/sell transactions across multiple stakeholders, manages all paperwork and delivers a clear and clean outcome to the funds who don't have to lift a finger...other than signatures, of course :) Confido "owns" the complex front office of speciality healthcare centers in the US. RapidClaims "owns" revenue cycle management for US clinics and hospitals. DPDZero "owns" collections for lenders - old and the new - delivering faster and better outcomes. OWNS is the keyword here and it contains the complexity and the long term moat that large model companies are unlikely to find a fit with.
