As discussed during the Gulf-Central Asia Ambassadors’ Roundtable, H.E. Akram Karimi, Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia @TJ_Emb_KSA, presented the 4th High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development” @DWaterProcess (2018-2028), which will take place in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, from May 25-28, 2026. Organized by the Government of Tajikistan in cooperation with the United Nations, this important conference will serve as a key preparatory milestone for the 2026 UN Water Conference.
On May 4, 2026, the Gulf Research Center (GRC) organized a Gulf-Central Asia roundtable at its office in Riyadh, bringing together ambassadors and representatives from the Republic of Kazakhstan @EmbassyArabia, the Republic of Uzbekistan @UzbekEmb_riyadh , the Kyrgyz Republic @KyrgyzEmbKSA, the Republic of Tajikistan @TJ_Emb_KSA, Republic of Azerbaijan @AzEmbRiyadh, and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). The discussion focused on recent regional developments and their implications, as well as on identifying avenues for concrete cooperation between the Gulf and Central Asia. Particular attention was given to the evolving dynamics of Gulf-Central Asia relations in light of ongoing geopolitical and economic shifts. This meeting forms part of the GRC’s Gulf-Central Asia Research Program, which aims to advance research, dialogue, and practical cooperation across key areas of mutual interest between the two regions.
