How do you actually earn Yap points? I used data to reverse engineer what seems to be working to:
1. show how data can be used to answers questions
2. hopefully contribute to clarity and see more authentic and interesting takes on my timeline
Using both Kaito's Yap Dashboard and X native analytics, I looked at the last 7 days and broke down points each day
First thing that I noticed was getting 61 yap points on December 21st even though there was 2x less impressions with December 23rd
> 1st insight: it's not just about impressions
I looked into December 21st to see what happened and see if it has something to do with the posts itself, engagers, or something else
I looked at new follows and # of replies to see if quality engagement had something to do with it
> 2nd insight: yap points can be high even if you have less reposts, less replies, less new follows. There is another qualifier around *what* you post and how
So what did i actually post that day?
On the 21st I only wrote one post on how @_kaitoai set a precedent with the surprise genesis nft mint as a saas product, and I tagged 4 friends from the team.
To isolate this, I know i mentioned Kaito on December 22nd too, the following day. This post had 2x less impressions and 41 points
>3rd insight: tagging @_kaitoai directly seems to help, especially if the team themselves reply back to you (both
@sandraleow and
@Punk9277 being "smart followers")
Lastly I looked at the other top day which was December 23rd also at 61 points. This day had no mention of Kaito or other possible companies people are keyword stuffing but did have the most replies all week and decent level reposts
Some of these replies are from "smart followers"
> 4th insight: there is some blended qualifier of:
- *who* replies to you
- who/what brands you are mentioning
What this means for me:
I'm going to keep posting as is. No need to gamify it, just be myself. I am going to curate my timeline a bit and will be more intentional this week about what posts I reply to based on:
- if they made me laugh
- if they taught me something new
- if they're people i admire and work with
- real, raw, authentic takes
happy yapping and merry xmas
