🚀 Day 27 – Chunk Happens (Even on Complex Processes)
Quick recap:
BenMakesDataEasy is a web app that lets you search across all datasets in a Power BI workspace at once. It helps find failed refreshes, spot unused objects, search measures, view user access, troubleshoot errors, and much more — all easy to use and no install needed.
Last night was a huge step forward for me technically.
I was working on one of the more complex processes in the app — chunking data into Redis, keeping it synced across multiple DataFrames, and then deleting the chunks when ready.
These are the kinds of backend tasks that quietly power everything but can be hard to get just right. After lots of trial and error, I think I finally nailed it. Woofta — this one felt like a big hurdle to clear.
I’ll still need to go back and optimize the chunk sizes (some of the splits might be a bit off), but overall I’m making strong progress.
💻 I also made a short timelapse of last night’s coding session. It’s sped up, so you can get a feel for how the app and code come together.
🎥 Question for the community:
Has anyone here used animation or cartoon software to make tech explainer videos?
Or just in general — how do you make your training/tutorial videos?
I’m trying to build a more engaging video presence and would love tips on the tools or workflows you use. Software, scripting, editing — I’ll take all the advice I can get.
🌐 Trying Reddit for Outreach
I’ve started using Reddit to connect with more Power BI users and demo the app.
Posting consistently across different platforms is a lot, but I’m realizing that if I want the project to grow, I need to show up everywhere. Even if it’s just one conversation at a time, they matter.
👋 Interested? Curious?
If this sounds useful, or you know someone who works with Power BI, or if you want to try the app out for free or see a quick demo — just let me know.
I’m happy to walk you through it.
🙏 If you find this valuable, please consider sharing it with your network — every share helps me grow and reach more people who could benefit. I’d be extremely grateful!
💭 Final thought — on momentum:
I’ve been thinking about the idea that growth is slow at first — like painfully slow.
But if you keep pushing, day by day, eventually things start to click.
Early on, it’s easy to doubt yourself. Easy to wonder if it’s even possible.
But every little breakthrough, every share, every test — it adds up.
If you’re building something too, keep showing up.
It may not feel like it yet, but your consistency is laying the foundation for something real.
You’re closer than you think. Keep going. 🙌
