Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) organised a Data User’s Conference on the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) on August 28, 2025, at Kaushal Bhawan, New Delhi. The conference was chaired by Dr. Saurabh Garg, Secretary, MoSPI, and attended by distinguished dignitaries including Ms. Vandana Gurnani, Secretary, Ministry of Labour & Employment, and Ms. Geeta Singh Rathore, Director General, National Sample Survey (NSS). The conference began with a lamp-lighting ceremony, following which Ms. Geeta Singh Rathore welcomed the gathering. Delivering his address, Dr. Saurabh Garg, Secretary, MoSPI, emphasised that the conference was an opportunity to reflect on the innovations introduced in PLFS from January 2025, which have enabled the generation of high-frequency labour market indicators. Ms. Vandana Gurnani, Secretary, Ministry of Labour & Employment, highlighted the dynamic changes underway in India’s employment ecosystem. She noted that the revised PLFS framework is a valuable tool for Ministry of Labour in policy planning. MoSPI organized the Data Users Conference on 21st April 2025, in collaboration with the Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR), Mumbai.
