Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoSPI) organized the 29th Conference of Central and State Statistical Organizations (CoCSSO) in Chandigarh, with the theme “Strengthening Local Level Governance.” The inaugural session was graced by Shri Rao Inderjit Singh, Hon’ble Union Minister of State (IC), MoSPI, Planning & Culture; Shri Nayab Singh Saini, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Haryana; Shri Bhawani Singh Pathania, Hon’ble Deputy Chairman, State Planning Board, Govt. of Himachal Pradesh; along with Dr. Saurabh Garg, Secretary, MoSPI; and Chief Secretaries of Haryana & Punjab. Leaders underlined the pivotal role of granular, credible data in effective governance, noting that “Government is incomplete without data.” On this occasion, MoSPI released two flagship publications “Children in India 2025” & “Environmental Accounting on Forest – 2025.” The event also marked the launch of MoSPI’s revamped website and the iOS version of the GoIStats app, bringing India’s official statistics closer to citizens. In line with its digital innovation drive, MoSPI introduced the PAIMANA portal for real-time monitoring of Central Sector Infrastructure Projects and NMDS 2.0, a metadata portal aligned with international standards that provides a unified repository of metadata from all Ministries and Departments. Across two days, CoCSSO 2025 will host technical sessions on statistical capacity building, data management, SDG monitoring, and data harmonization, concluding on 26th September 2025. Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), in collaboration with the Centre for Development Studies (CDS), Thiruvananthapuram, organised a Data User’s Conference on the Time Use Survey (TUS) 2024 on September 22, 2025, at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The conference was inaugurated by Dr. Saurabh Garg, Secretary, MoSPI, and witnessed the presence of eminent dignitaries including Shri K. M. Chandrasekhar, Former Cabinet Secretary, Prof. Veeramani, Director, CDS, and Dr. Indira Hirway, Former Director, Centre for Development Alternatives. In his address, the Secretary of MoSPI emphasized the Ministry's 'Data for Development' vision and highlighted initiatives aimed at achieving Viksit Bharat@2047 by improving the complexity, frequency, and timeliness of data. Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) organised a Data User’s Conference on the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) on August 28, 2025, at Kaushal Bhawan, New Delhi. The conference was chaired by Dr. Saurabh Garg, Secretary, MoSPI, and attended by distinguished dignitaries including Ms. Vandana Gurnani, Secretary, Ministry of Labour & Employment, and Ms. Geeta Singh Rathore, Director General, National Sample Survey (NSS).
