📊 2024 Crypto Developer Market Report Key Insights: Total Developer Numbers: The overall crypto developer pool has decreased by 24% YOY, primarily due to the 2022 influx of new devs who exited in 2023. Experienced Developers: The number of devs with 2 years of experience is at an all-time high ( 52% growth), while those with 1 year of experience now make up 63% of active devs. New Developer Decline: New devs (less than 12 months in the field) dropped by 52% YOY, signaling a shift toward seasoned professionals. Multi-Chain Support: 30% of devs now support multiple blockchains—a 10x growth since 2015. The percentage of devs supporting 3 blockchains has also reached a historic high of 17%. Global Shift: 72% of developers are now based outside North America, with South Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe, and Western Africa seeing a 20% increase in dev share since 2018. Project Growth Disparity: Developer growth varies widely across projects, suggesting that devs are flocking to those they see as innovative and valuable. Conclusions: Experienced Talent Driving Innovation: Despite an overall decline in dev numbers, the increase in experienced developers suggests the industry is retaining talent that can push the ecosystem forward. Asia is driving the current crypto bull market. The enthusiasm for Web3 particularly DeFi and SocialFi in Asia is very real. A combination of a tech-forward culture(s) merging with gaming/nfts/tokens is a blend that is hyper-charged by an itch to not this this bull (as 2017/2020 was missed due to regulation). Regulatory friendliness has come around in places like Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore. Developer activity outside of the U.S has skyrocketed according to @ElectricCapital's DevReport. and we've seen lots of projects move offshore from the US (i.e @Backpack Chi-Town -> Japan).

1/ 🚨 Portfolio Companies Hiring Update According to the latest DevReport from @ElectricCapital, there has been a 24% year-over-year decline in developers overall, with the exception being developers with 2 and 1 years of experience. This downturn is concerning given that "developers are a leading indicator of value creation.”
