What’s going on y’all 👋 This weekend we released a major update to @devsecblueprint, essentially transforming it from a simple Docusaurus site into a full DevSecOps learning platform 🔥 Most resources teach theory or focus on certifications. Those have value, but real learning happens when you build systems and see how security fits into engineering workflows. That idea shaped the new platform. DSB is a free, open-source learning platform designed to help engineers grow in DevSecOps & Cloud Security Development through structured concepts, quizzes, and hands-on system building. New platform features: ✅ GitHub authentication ✅ Progress tracking ✅ Knowledge quizzes ✅ Achievement badges ✅ Hands-on walkthroughs (AWS, Azure, GCP) ✅ Structured DevSecOps learning paths The goal is simple: Help engineers move beyond reading about security and actually start building secure cloud-native systems. Just made a BIG change to our AWS DevSecOps pipeline project at @devsecblueprint: We’ve moved from IAM Users Access Keys to IAM Roles OIDC 🤝 Terraform Cloud now securely retrieves temporary credentials, which means no more hardcoded secrets. Technical skills are great to have as a DevSecOps engineer, but the main skills that you need that will get you promoted are those "soft" skills. As I tell my mentees, you ain't getting anywhere if you don't know how to talk to people. 😃 You need to learn how to effectively communicate, collaborate, adapt to rapid changes (because you know... it's day 1 every day in tech), and have strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills. 💯 I felt like this was missing from the roadmap in @devsecblueprint, and I went ahead and added this page and included some books that I've read to help me out with this. For those who have more recommendations on videos and books, send them my way or raise a PR! For all new grads and folks looking to get into tech in 2025, I have one key thing I want to share with you all: DO 👏 NOT 👏 JUST 👏 APPLY 👏 TO 👏 TECH 👏 COMPANIES 👏 Widen your net and apply to various companies in different industries. You’ll be surprised to learn that your local credit union or bank, hotel and fast food restaurants, oil and gas company, or hell… even the car insurance company that wants that premium paid ON TIME every month NEEDS a tech talent. So, be sure to consider them when you're applying. 🗒️ 😉 I took my own advice post-graduation in 2018 and became gainfully employed at the start of 2019.
