Bringing together ECOWAS Member States and Regional Economic Communities (RECs), the workshop provided a platform to exchange experiences, discuss implementation challenges, strengthen regional cooperation, and advance the vision of affordable and seamless cross-border communications across Africa. 📌Heads of Communications Regulatory Authorities from EAC Partner States convened in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania for a High-Level Policy Meeting on the proposed Enhanced Regional Mobile Roaming Framework aimed at facilitating affordable, seamless, secure and harmonised regional mobile roaming services across East Africa. The meeting highlighted the growing importance of digital connectivity in supporting trade, investment, movement of people and regional integration within the EAC Common Market and the emerging #SingleDigitalMarket. National communications regulators are expected to play a central role in implementing the framework through coordinated regulatory oversight and harmonised approaches across Partner States. Key focus areas include: ➡️ Consumer protection ➡️ Compliance monitoring ➡️ Pricing structures ➡️ Regulatory coordination ➡️ Dispute resolution mechanisms ➡️ Technical and operational cooperation The framework also seeks to strengthen interoperability, service continuity, transparency in roaming charges and quality of service standards to improve customer experience for citizens travelling within the region. IGAD Convenes Regional Validation Workshop on Public Private Partnerships for Digital Transformation IGAD, with support from the World Bank through the Eastern Africa Regional Digital Integration Project (EARDIP), has convened a regional validation workshop to advance the development of a Regional Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) Framework aimed at accelerating digital transformation across the IGAD region. The workshop was opened by the Head of IGAD Mission to Kenya, Dr @FatumaIAdan, and participants were welcomed by Dr. @MohyTohami, Director of Economic Cooperation and Regional Integration at IGAD, who outlined the objectives and set the agenda for the meeting.
