🛠️ Building Digital Bridges for Educational Equity in
#Uruguay
This International Day for Digital Learning, we spotlight the
#evaluation of “Digital Bridges for Educational Equity”, a joint initiative by
@Ceibal_Uy and
@UNICEFuruguay aimed at expanding meaningful digital access for the most vulnerable learners.
The independent
#evaluation (2021–2023) shows that Digital Bridges made important strides toward inclusive, high-quality digital education—while also revealing critical opportunities to strengthen impact.
🔍 Key Insights
The project’s design aligned well with its goals and responded to urgent digital learning needs among vulnerable children and adolescents.
Interventions improved teaching and learning practices through better access to digital tools—though overall coverage remained modest.
Teacher training and mentorship emerged as essential components for successful digital integration.
Gaps remain in clearly identifying the most vulnerable groups and coordinating efforts across interventions.
All interventions show strong potential for replication in other contexts.
📝 Key Recommendations
Define the conditions necessary for successful implementation and scaling.
Create mechanisms that improve coordination between interventions.
Adapt strategies to specific local contexts to strengthen relevance and effectiveness.
Conduct impact evaluations to deepen evidence on what works.
Develop a strategic plan to replicate and expand the most promising interventions.
✨ Why it matters
Digital learning is a cornerstone of educational equity. Uruguay’s experience demonstrates how thoughtful design, collaboration, and evidence-based improvement can bring us closer to ensuring every child has access to quality digital opportunities.
